Euterpe
Εὐτέρπη
Euterpe is the Muse of music. Her name means good delight.
Euterpe is one of the nine Muses. The name means rejoicing well or giving delight. Roman writers treated her as the Muse of music and of the flute, and later, of lyric poetry.
In some accounts, she is the mother of Rhesus, king of Thrace, by the river god Strymon. Rhesus appears in the Iliad as a Thracian ally of Troy.
She is shown with a double flute (aulos).
