Rhea
Rhea was a Titan and Greek god of Uranus. Rhea was one of 12 siblings born to Uranus and Gaea. Uranus was the sky and Gaea was the earth. The other siblings of Rhea were, Cronus, Oceanus, Tethys, Hyperion, Mnemosyne, Themis, Iapetus, Coeus, Crius, Phoebe, and Thea. These were the twelve Titans born of Uranus and Gaea. There were six males and six females. Uranus and Gaea also created Cyclopes, Hecatoncheires, Erinyes, Aphordite (questionable about this one), Giants, and Ash Tree Nymphs.
Rhea was a sister to Cronus but she also became his wife. Together they had Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter. When Rhea and her other siblings were born, their father, Cronus, swallowed them. All but Zeus, and he would have been swallowed too if it had not been for Rhea and Gaea. They plotted to hide Zeus after he was born and Rhea went back and gave Cronus a stone wrapped in baby clothes and he swallowed that. Rhea gave birth to Zeus in Crete and hid him in a cave on Mount Ida. Zeus was then raised by someone else. There are stories of several different women raising him. After Rhea knew Zeus was safe, she went back to Cronus and gave him an herb to drink and told him it would make him invincible. He drank it and instead of becoming invincible, he regurgitated the rock and all of the children he had swallowed. Later, after all of the children had grown, they overthrew their father and other Titans and cast them into Tartarus (below Hades). They also had the help of Cyclopes, Hecatoncheires, and the Giants. The war between Zeus and Cronus was called the Titanomachy. Zeus had released Cyclopes and the other monsters from Tartarus where it is said that Uranus cast them into Tartarus because he feared their strength. It was also said that Gaea put them inside her to protect them from Uranus. After Cronus was cast into Tartarus, Zeus became the ruler of all gods.
Rhea was strongly associated with Gaea, the Mother Earth, and Cybele, the Great Goddess. She was also known by the Greeks as the mother of the Olympian gods and goddesses. She never dwelled permanently with them on Mount Olympus. It is said that the Phrygians still worship Rhea with tambourines and drums.
The different reports say that Zeus was raised by Gaea, or by a goat named Amalthea, or a nymph named Adamanthea. There were also other theories on this story. One can only guess or believe the story they want to believe. I suppose it might also depend on the source from which the story comes from.
